Sagada Registers 9 Teenage Mothers

Of the total registered births in Sagada in 2022, 9 births or 7.14 percent of the total were teenage mothers. This was 18.18 lower compared to the total teenage moms listed in this municipality during the previous year at 11 teenage moms.
 
In addition, the youngest mother who gave birth in Sagada this year was 17 years old. In 2021, the youngest mother registered in this municipality was 15 years old and in 2020, the youngest mom was another 15 years old.
 
According to birth order, the youngest mom who bore her 2nd child in 2022 was 20 years old; for her 3rd child was 22 years old while the youngest woman who already bore her 4th child was 24 years old.
 
In 2021, the youngest who gave birth to her 2nd child and was registered in this municipality was 19 years old and the youngest who bore her 5th child was 22 years old.
 

About Three in Every 100 Births in Mountain Province are Registered in Sagada

The municipality of Sagada registered a total of 126 births in 2022. It had 3.09 percent share to the total births listed in the province at 4,077 births.
 
The highest number of births was registered in June with 16 or 12.70 percent share to the total number of births registered in this municipality. This means that about 1 in every 10 births in Sagada in 2022 was registered in June.
 
February had the least number of births at just 5 births.

Females Outnumbered Males in Terms of Registered Births

According to sex, it was noted that there were more females than males who were born in Sagada in 2022 at 66 births. This was 10 percent higher than the male births at 60.
 
The difference of female births to their male counterparts during the month of June contributed to the higher number of female births in the municipality while March and September have the same number of births for both sexes.
 
In the years 2019 and 2021, there were more females than males who were registered in the municipality while there were more male than female births in 2020.
 

About Four in Every Ten Births are Registered Late

Of the 126 registered births in Sagada in 2022, 55 births or 43.65 percent were registered late. This means that about 4 in every 10 births in the municipality were registered late. The number of timely registrations were at 71 births.
 
By sex, late registration among females were higher than males. 35 percent of the total male births in the municipality were registered late while 51.52 percent of all female births were registered late.
 

About Three in Every Ten Births are Illegitimate

Of the 126 births registered in Sagada in 2022, 38 births or 30.16 percent were illegitimate. This means that about 3 in every 10 babies registered in the municipality in 2022 were born out of wedlock.
 
Categorizing by sex, illegitimate births were higher among male than female babies. 35 percent of the male births were illegitimate. In comparison, 25.76 percent of all female births were also born to unmarried parents.
 

About One in Every Four Births is First Born Baby

According to birth order, 26.98 percent of the registered births in Sagada during the year were first born children. This translates to about 1 in every 4 births in Sagada was first born baby. In addition, 23.02 percent were 2nd born and 22.22 percent were third born babies. The mother with the highest number of children who gave birth this year bore her 10th child.

About Five in Every Ten Births are Attended by a Physician

Of the total births registered in the municipality, 52.38 percent were attended by physicians; 8.73 percent were attended by nurses; 26.98 percent were attended by hilot/ unlicensed midwives and the remaining percentage were attended by others.
 
For male births, 56.67 percent were attended by physicians; while 25 percent were attended by hilot/ unlicensed midwives. For female births, 48.48 percent were attended by physicians while 28.79 percent were attended by hilot/ unlicensed midwives.

About Three in Every Ten Mothers Who Gave Birth are 25 to 29 Years Old

Of the total women who gave birth in this municipality in 2022, 27.78 percent were under the age group 25 to 29 years old. This was followed by age group 30 to 34 years old at 16.67 percent and age group 20 to 24 years old at 14.29 percent of the total.
 
According to single year, the highest number of mothers who gave birth this year was aged 25 years old at 13 births. This means that about 1 in every 10 women who gave in this municipality in 2022 was 25 years old.
 
The oldest mother who bore a child this year was 46 years old.
