This Special Release presents the Vital Statistics on the registered vital events at the Local Civil Registry Offices in the 10 municipalities of Mountain Province which were forwarded to the Office of the Civil Registrar General. Data on births, marriages and deaths were tabulated from the Vital Events Information (VEI) of the Provincial Office. Thus, not yet the final data. The official vital statistics will be released by Central Office.
More Female Birth than Male
For the 1st quarter of 2025, a total of 886 births were registered in Mountain Province. By sex, the total birth registration records higher in male with 494 than in female with 392. Bauko contributed the highest birth for both sexes, representing 287 (58.10 percent) of male and 84 (52.30 percent) of female. This was followed by Bontoc with 83 (16.80 percent) of male and 86 (21.94 percent) of female, and Paracelis with 69 (13.97 percent) of male and 58 (14.80 percent) of female. Altogether, these three municipalities represented 88.87 percent of the total male births and 89.04 percent of the total female births.
On the other hand, Barlig recorded the least registration for the overall and for both sexes with only 25 births, comprising 5 (1.01 percent) males and 7 (1.79 percent) females (Figure 1).

Highest Number of Births Recorded in Bauko
The highest number of registered births was recorded in Bauko with 492 (55.53 percent share). This was followed by Bontoc with 169 births (19.08 percent share) and Paracelis with 127 or (14.33 percent share) (Figure 2).
About Nine in Every Ten Births are Registered Timely
Timely registration refers to registration of the births within 30 days of occurrence. The province registered a total of 886 births or 84.65 percent in a timely manner. This translates to a ratio of about nine in every ten births being registered on time and six of these were registered in Bauko.
Of the births registered timely, 53.50 percent were born in Bauko. Bontoc also accounted 17.04 percent and Paracelis accounted 8.23 percent. The remaining percentage was registered in the rest of the municipalities of the province.
On the other hand, Paracelis had the highest number of late registrations. Of the 886 births registered in the municipality, 54 or 6.10 percent were registered late. Bauko and Bontoc ranked second with 18 delayed registrations.
Moreover, five municipalities, namely Barlig, Natonin and Sabangan, show a higher number of late than timely registrations (Figure 3).
More Single Births than Twins
Of the total registered 886 births in the province, 878 births or 99.10 percent were single births. Only 8 births or .90 percent were twin births. From the 8 recorded twin births, 6 are from Bauko and the other 2 registered births are from the Municipality of Bontoc (Figure 4).
