19 January 2024, Luna, Apayao - The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) held an onsite registration for the National Identification System to Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology – Luna District Jail, Luna, Apayao with the guidance of the Acting District Jail Warden, JINSP Zarina M. Sangway, and direct supervision of the Assistant Warden, JINSP Jay T. Ingles.

Signed into law by President Rodrigo R. Duterte in August 2018, Republic Act 11055, or the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) is the national ID that will be a valid proof of identity and means to simplify private and government transactions. This, as the national government mandated a single national ID for all Filipinos, including PDLs.

The ID registration was made possible through the deployment of two staff members of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Provincial Office of Apayao, Mr. Robbie B. Oraro and Ms. Cindy T. Pugyao.

A total of 5 PDLs and 2 BJMP personnel were successfully registered for the Step 2 registration of the National ID.
