Data on marriages presented in this special release were obtained from the Office of the City/Municipal Registrars throughout the region and submitted to the Philippine Statistics Authority - Regional Statistical Services Office Cordillera Administrative Region (PSA-RSSO CAR) through the Decentralized Vital Statistics System (DVSS) 2021 of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)-Provincial Offices (POs) of the Cordillera region. Information presented included marriages registered in the 4th quarter 2021 and in 4th quarter 2020. Figures presented herein are still preliminary and may differ in the final counts.

Registered Marriages Increased to 39 percent

  • There were 2,111 registered marriages for the 4th  quarter of 2021 showing an increase of 39 percent from the same quarter of last year’s figure of 1,274.
  • The Province of Benguet excluding Baguio City has the most number of registered marriages, accounting for 31 out of every 100 marriages in the Region.  Followed by Baguio  City with 20 per 100 marriages.
  • All Provinces in the Region increased in the number of registered marriages from 4th quarter of 2020 to the 4th quarter of 2021.

Most Grooms and Brides were married between the ages of 25 – 29 years old

  • Most brides and grooms belong to the age group 25-29 with 39.3 percent and 37.8 percent respectively.
  • Marriages involving teenage brides were four times more than marriages with teenage grooms.
  • There were 12 registered marriages among seniors sixty years old and over.

Marriages Peak in December 2021

  • Around 57 for every 100 marriages occurred in the month of December, followed by November with 22 and October with 21.

Civil Rites Highest in the 4th Quarter of 2021 in the Region

  • There were 22 solemnized daily through different ceremonies in the 4th  quarter of 2021.
  • Of the total marriages 1,176  were contracted through civil rites, the highest number of registered marriages among other types of ceremony.
  • Roman Catholic ceremonies stood at 352 registered marriages, muslim marriage with 5 and tribal with 4 registered marriages.

Top Five Municipalities with most number of Marriages Registration

  • Among the Municipalities in the Region, La Trinidad, Benguet had the most number of marriages registration with 7.2 percent or 151 marriages. It was followed by Itogon, Benguet with 4.0 percent,  Tuba, Benguet with 3.9 percent, Flora, Apayao  with 3.5 percent and Mankayan, Benguet with 3.0 percent registered marriages.
