This Special Release presents data on marriage certificates registered at the Local Civil Registry Offices in the ten municipalities of the province for the second quarter of 2020 and 2021 and forwarded to the Office of the Civil Registrar General. Data were tabulated from the DVSS. Thus, statistics presented here is preliminary.
 
Registered Marriages in Mountain Province is 207
 
Based on the result of the tabulation from the Decentralized Vital Statistics System (DVSS) of the Philippine Statistics Authority, registered marriages in Mountain Province during the 2nd quarter of 2021 reached 207. This is 369.81 percent higher than the registered marriages in the same quarter of 2020 recorded at 53. The increase is not due to the situation this year as the count is the usual number of marriages solemnized in the province. The most probable cause is due to the province being under Enhanced Community Quarantine in the same period last year because of the COVID-19 pandemic and marriage ceremonies was then prohibited. In the same quarter of 2019, the registered marriages in the province is 249.
 
Two in Every Ten Marriages in Mountain Province is Recorded in Paracelis
 
According to records by municipality, Bauko recorded the most number of marriages at 44 which is 21.26 percent of the total marriages listed in the province. This means that about two in every ten marriages in the Mountain Province is recorded in this municipality. This is followed closely by Bauko at 39 marriages or 18.84 percent of the total and the Capital Town Bontoc at 38 or 18.36 percent. In 2020, the highest number is recorded in Bauko.
 
 
Almost All Registered Marriages in the Province are Timely Registered
 
Of the total registered marriages in the province for the 2nd quarter of 2021, 203 or 98.07 percent are timely registered. Ideally, marriage shall be registered in the office of the Local Civil Registrar of the place where it was solemnized within 15 days from the date of celebration. However, a 30-day reglementary period is set by law for marriages of exceptional character. All other marriages who were not registered within the period for registration are considered late.
 
Only 3 municipalities- Bontoc, Paracelis and Sagada recorded late registration for the quarter.
 
 
About Seven in Every Ten Marriages are Solemnized Thru Civil Weddings
 
According to the type of ceremony, 142 marriages or 68.60 percent of the total were civil weddings. This means that almost 7 in every 10 marriages were civil weddings. 40 or 19.32 percent were solemnized by other religious rites. The remaining number are blessed by the Roman Catholic and tribal marriages.
 
Two in Every Ten Civil Marriages in the Province are in Bauko
 
Of the 142 civil marriages registered in Mountain Province in the 2nd quarter of 2021, 29 or 20.42 percent happened in Bauko. 17.61 percent occurred in Tadian and 15.49 percent are registered in Paracelis. It is observed that all records in Barlig, Besao and Sadanga are civil marriages while 78.57 percent of marriages in Sagada are civil weddings while the rest is solemnized by the Roman Catholic Church.
 
 
 
Four in Every Ten Grooms are 25 to 29 years Old
 
According to the groom’s age, majority of men who got married in in the 2nd quarter of 2021 are under the age group 25 to 29 years. There are 80 men that accounted 38.65 percent of all the grooms. They are followed by age groups 30 to 34 years at 23.67 percent and 20 to 24 years at 21.74 percent. The combined number of these three age groups comprised 84.06 percent of all grooms in Mountain Province in the quarter. The oldest groom is within the age group 75 to 79 years.
 
 
Two in Every Ten Grooms Aged 25 to 29 Years are Registered in Paracelis
 
Of the 80 gentlemen in the province who got married in the 2nd quarter of the year and are aged 25 to 29 years, 21.25 percent are registered in Paracelis. This means that about two in every ten grooms aged 25 to 29 years are listed in this municipality.
 
Five in Every Ten Grooms in Mountain Province is Roman Catholic
 
According to groom’s religion, majority are Roman Catholic as they comprised 49.28 percent of the total registered grooms in the province in the 2nd quarter of 2021. Of these grooms, 18.63 percent each are from Bontoc and Paracelis and 14.71 percent hails from Tadian.
 
About four in Every Ten Brides are 25 to 29 Years Old
 
Of the 207 registered brides in Mountain Province in the 2nd quarter of this year, 74 or 35.75 percent are 25 to 29 years old. This is followed by age groups 20 to 24 years at 28.03 percent and 30 to 34 years at 12.56 percent. Their combined share comprises 60.69 percent of all the brides in the province. It is also observed that the oldest bride that got married during the quarter is within the age group 80 to 84 years.
 
Two in Every Ten Brides Aged 25 to 29 Years are in Bontoc and Paracelis
 
According to municipality, the highest number of brides aged 25 to 29 years are in Bontoc and Paracelis. Each municipality listed 15 grooms which is 20.27 percent of the total grooms in the province. This is followed by Bauko at 16.22 percent and Tadian at 13.51 percent.
