This Special Release presents data on marriage certificates registered at the Local Civil Registry Offices in the ten municipalities of the province for the first quarter of 2021 and 2022 and forwarded to the Office of the Civil Registrar General. Data were tabulated from the DVSS. Thus, statistics presented here is preliminary.
Registered Marriages in Mountain Province in the First Quarter of 2022 is 203
Based on the result of the tabulation from the Decentralized Vital Statistics System (DVSS) of the Philippine Statistics Authority, registered marriages in Mountain Province during the 1st quarter of 2022 reached 203. This is 84.55 percent higher than the registered marriages in the same quarter of 2021 recorded at 110. In the same quarter of 2020, the registered marriages in the province is 227.
About Two in Every Ten Marriages in Mountain Province is Recorded in Bauko
According to records by municipality, Bauko still recorded the greatest number of marriages in the 1st quarter of this year at 46 which is 22.66 percent of the total marriages listed in the province. This means that about 2 in every 10 marriages in Mountain Province is recorded in this municipality. This is followed by Tadian at 34 marriages or 16.75 percent of the total and Bontoc at 32 or 15.76 percent.
In 2021, the highest number is recorded in Bauko.
Almost All Registered Marriages in the Province are Timely Registered
Of the total registered marriages in the province for the 1st quarter of 2022, 199 or 98.03 percent are timely registered. Ideally, marriage shall be registered in the office of the Local Civil Registrar of the place where it was solemnized within 15 days from the date of celebration. However, a 30-day reglementary period is set by law for marriages of exceptional character. All other marriages that were not registered within the period for registration are considered late.
Two municipalities- Bontoc and Paracelis recorded late registrations for the quarter.
About Six in Every Ten Marriages are Solemnized Thru Civil Wedding
According to the type of ceremony, 125 marriages or 61.58 percent of the total are civil weddings. This means that almost 6 in every 10 marriages were civil weddings. 44 marriages or 21.67 percent are solemnized by other religious rites. The remaining number is blessed by the Roman Catholic Church.
About Two in Every Ten Civil Marriages in the Province Occurred in Bauko
Of the 125 civil marriages registered in Mountain Province in the 1st quarter of 2022, 26 or 20.80 percent happened in Bauko; 20 marriages each or 16 percent occurred in Bontoc and Tadian.
It is observed that all records in Barlig are civil marriages.
The highest number of marriages solemnized by the Roman Catholic Church happened in Tadian while the most number sanctified by other religious sects occured in Bauko.
About Four in Every Ten Grooms are 25 to 29 years Old
According to the groom’s age, majority of men who got married in the 1st quarter of this year are under the age group 25 to 29 years. There are 81 gentlemen that accounted to 39.90 percent of all the grooms in the province. They are followed by age groups 30 to 34 years at 25.12 percent and 20 to 24 years at 20.69 percent. The combined number of these three age groups comprised 85.71 percent of all the grooms in Mountain Province in the quarter.
The oldest groom is within the age group 65 to 69 Years old.
About One in Every Four Grooms Aged 25 to 29 Years is Registered in Bauko
Of the 81 gentlemen in the province who got married in the 1st quarter of the year and are aged 25 to 29 years, 25.93 percent are registered in Bauko. This means that about one in every four grooms aged 25 to 29 years in the province is listed in this municipality.
About One in Every Two Grooms in Mountain Province is Roman Catholic
According to groom’s religion, majority of them are Roman Catholic as they comprised 48.28 percent of the total registered grooms in the province in the 1st quarter of 2022. Of these grooms, 19.39 percent are from Bontoc while 18.37 percent hail from Bauko and 15.31 percent are from Tadian.
About Four in Every Ten Brides are 25 to 29 Years Old
Of the 203 registered brides in Mountain Province in the 1st quarter of this year, 80 or 39.41 percent are 25 to 29 years old. This is followed by age groups 20 to 24 years old at 30.05 percent and 30 to 34 years old at 16.26 percent. Their combined share comprises 85.71 percent of all the brides in the province. It is also observed that the oldest bride that got married during the quarter is within the age group 60 to 64 years old.
About One in Every Three Brides Aged 25 to 29 Years is in Bauko
By municipality, the highest number of brides aged 25 to 29 years are registered in Bauko with 27 brides which is 33.75 percent of the total brides in the province of this age. This is followed by Bontoc at 15 percent.
Marriage - A special contract of permanent union between a man and a woman entered into in accordance with law for the establishment of conjugal and family life.
Entries in the Marriage Certificates, once duly registered, can no longer be altered. Hence any correction and/or supplemental entry can only be added to the record as an annotation. The original entries remain.
