The inflation rate in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) accelerated from 2.4% in November 2024 to 3.3% in December 2024. Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) - CAR Chief Statistical Specialist Aldrin Federico R. Bahit Jr. reported that the main sources of acceleration of the December 2024 inflation were Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages with a share of 79.3%; Transport with 16.3% share; and Restaurants and Accommodation Services with 2.0%.
The major contributors to the December 2024 inflation were Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages with 53.8% share; Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Other Fuels with 26.2% share, and Personal Care, and Miscellaneous Goods and Services with 5.1% share.
Mountain Province had the highest inflation rate among the six provinces and one Highly Urbanized City (HUC) in CAR with 5.2%. This was followed by Abra with an inflation rate of 5.1%, Kalinga with and the City of Baguio, both with 4.0%, Ifugao with 3.1%, Benguet with 1.8%, and Apayao with 0.6%. The Purchasing Power of the Peso (PPP) in CAR with 2018 as base year retained at 79 centavos in December 2024. This means that one peso in 2018 was worth 79 centavos in December 2024.
The Chief Statistical Specialists of the PSA Provincial Statistical Offices in CAR presented the inflation report of their respective provinces. The online dissemination of the December 2024 Cordillera Inflation Report was conducted last 17 January 2025 via Google Meet. This was attended by 109 participants from Regional Line Agencies (RLAs), Local Government Units (LGUs), academe, and the media.
