99.1% of CAR household population had their births registered

• The results of the 2020 Census of Population and Housing (2020 CPH) showed that a total of 1,775,579 persons or 99.1 percent of the total household population in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) had their births registered with the Local Civil Registry Offices (LCROs)

. • Among the CAR provinces/HUC, Mt. Province posted the highest proportion of the household population of births registered with 99.9 percent. It was followed by the City of Baguio and Ifugao with 99.4 and 99.3 percent, respectively.

• Meanwhile, Apayao had the lowest proportion of household population of births registered with 97.7 percent.

 

Age groups 10 to 14 and 15 to 19 years old have highest proportion of births registered

• By age groups, the household population aged 10 to 14 and 15 to 19 years old had the highest proportion of births registered both with 99.7 percent followed by aged 5 to 9, 20 to 24, and 25 to 29 years old with 99.6 percent.

• On the other hand, the lowest proportion of births registered was recorded among the oldest age groups. Specifically, the household population aged 80 years old and over (93.9 percent) had the lowest proportion of births registered followed by 75 to 79 years old (95.9 percent) and 70 to 74 years old (96.7 percent), respectively.

 

97.7% of births registered have copies of birth certificates

• Of the 1,775,579 persons who reported that their births were registered, a total of 1,735,431 persons have copies of their birth certificates. This was equivalent to 97.7 percent of the reported registered births.

• Both Mt. Province and the City of Baguio posted the highest proportion of persons with copies of their birth certificates with 99.2 percent. It was followed by Ifugao with 98.3 percent, Benguet with 98.2 percent, and Kalinga with 97.9 percent.

 

At least 92% of total household population in provinces have copies of birth certificates

• Across all provinces in the Cordillera region, at least 92.0 percent of the total population by province had a copy of their birth certificates.

• Mt. Province had the highest proportion of their total household population that had a copy of their birth certificates with 99.0 percent (156,265 persons).

• Apayao posted the lowest proportion of their total household population that had a copy of their birth certificates with 92.5 percent (114,670 persons).

 

TECHNICAL NOTES

Household is a social unit consisting of a person or a group of persons who sleep in the same housing unit and have a common arrangement in preparing and consuming food.

Household population refers to all persons who are members of the household.

Age refers to an interval between the person’s date of birth and their last birthday before the census reference date. It is expressed in completed years or whole numbers.

Birth registration is the official recording of the occurrence of birth of a person in the City/Municipal Civil Registry Office. The birth of a person is one of the vital events that are subject to official registration through an administrative process of the government.

Birth certificate is a permanent and official record of an individual’s existence.
