The church leaders of the Anglican Orthodox Church in the Philippines (AOCP), led by the Bishop, Rt. Rev. Anthony U. Pangsiw, participated on the Solemnizing Officers’ Training.
Baguio City – The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Provincial Statistics Office, in partnership with the Anglican Orthodox Church in the Philippines (AOCP), hosted their first comprehensive seminar on the Rules and Procedures in the Registration of Authority to Solemnize Marriage. The event was held at the Church of the Blessed Redeemer (CBR), Cypress Point, Irisan, Baguio City on November 20, 2024.
The seminar brought together church leaders and solemnizing officers, led by the Bishop of AOCP, Rt. Rev. Anthony U. Pangsiw. This initiative highlights the church's dedication to ensuring compliance with both legal and ecclesiastical protocols, equipping its solemnizing officers with the knowledge required to conduct marriage ceremonies responsibly and in accordance with Philippine law.
The training session focused on the procedural requirements for obtaining a Certificate of Registration of Authority to Solemnize Marriage (CRASM) from the PSA, alongside the key responsibilities of solemnizing officers in documenting and registering marriages. This proactive effort reflects AOCP's unwavering commitment to upholding the sanctity of marriage while adhering to national legal standards.
Bishop Pangsiw underscored the importance of this initiative, stating:
"Marriage is a sacred covenant, and it is vital that our solemnizing officers are well-prepared, not only spiritually but also in adhering to the legal frameworks that safeguard this institution."
The event concluded with participants pledging to uphold integrity, diligence, and faithfulness in their roles as marriage solemnizers. AOCP remains steadfast in its mission to serve its congregants with excellence, fostering stronger families and communities through proper guidance and adherence to lawful processes.
