Four babies born per hour in CAR

  • There were a total of 9,644 registered live births in the Cordillera Administrative Region for the 4th quarter 2022, this shows an increase  of 11.3 percent compared to the same period in 2021.
  • Among the Provinces,  Kalinga recorded the highest occurence of registered live births in the  4th quarter  2022 with 1,662, followed by Abra with 1,233, Benguet at 1,227, Ifugao at 1,218 and Mt Province and Apayao with 1,110 and 1,100, respectively.
  • When compared to the same quarter last year, almost all provinces reported an increase in the number of live births that were registered. The largest percentage increase was in Mt Province with 26.7 percent, followed by Ifugao at 20.8 percent. On the other hand, Benguet reported a decline of 32.8 percent.
  • At an average of 23, Baguio City had the most live births registered per day, followed by Kalinga with 18, Abra, Benguet, and Ifugao with 13 each.
  • There were 105 babies born daily or about 4 babies born per hour in the Region.

6 out of 25 Registered Births Occurred in November

  • The month of November had the highest registered live births with 6 out of 25 babies born in the Region. It was followed by the month of October with 2,115 and  December at 1,852 birth registered.

4th Quarter 2022

More Male babies are Born than Females in CAR

  • A total of 4,858 male babies were registered, contributing 50.3 percent share to the total births in the region, while 4,806 females were recorded in the 4th quarter of 2022. This resulted to a sex ratio of 101 males per 100 females  for the said quarter.
  • The province of Apayao posted a sex ratio of 110 which was higher than the regional level. Following this were Abra and Mt Province, all of which had the same sex ratio of 107. Meanwhile, Kalinga had the least sex ratio of 102.
  • Benguet and Ifugao posted sex ratio less than one hundred at 87 and 94, respectively, indicating that there were more registered females than males in these provinces.

The City of Baguio has the Highest Registered Live Births in CAR

  • Of the cities in the Cordillera Administrative Region, Baguio City had the highest live births registered with 2,114, followed by Tabuk City, Kalinga, with 1,224.
  • The municipality with the most number of registered live births was Bangued, Abra, with 681 live births recorded in the fourth quarter of 2022. This was followed by, Luna, Apayao with 676, La Trinidad, Benguet and Bauko, Mt Province with  651 and 577, respectively.

Abra has the Fewest Registered Live Births in CAR  

  • The Cordillera Administrative Region's municipalities with the fewest live births registered were Daguioman, San Quintin, San Isidro, Villaviciosa, and Pennarubia, all of which are in Abra.
