In 2022, the agricultural population in Kalinga comprises of 108 males per 100 females
The total agricultural population in Kalinga was estimated at 166,439 individuals based from the results on the 2022 Census of Agriculture and Fisheries (CAF) conducted in September to November 2023. The population was composed of 80,128 women (48.14%) and 86,311 men (51.86 %) who were involved in agricultural activities in year 2022 with a ratio of 108:100.

Despite the big number, out of 166,439 agricultural operators in the province, only 29.8% among the population have ownership or secure rights over agricultural land they operate or 49,669 persons wherein men 36,592 (73.67%) and 13,077( were women (26.33%) and 36,592 were (Please refer to Table 1. Agricultural Population 18 Years Old and Over with Ownership or Secure Rights Over Agricultural Land by Sex: Kalinga, 2022).
The proportion of agricultural population with ownership/secure rights over agricultural land was lower in women with only 16.3% while men have the proportion of 42.4%.

Sixty Nine Percent of the Agricultural lands in Kalinga are fully owned
Figure 3 shows the agricultural population (18 years old and over) with ownership or secure rights over agricultural land by tenure status during the reference period. Among the 49,669 agricultural operators stated above, 34,336 (69.13%) have Fully Owned tenure status; 10,877 (21.90%) agricultural operators have Owner-like Possession; 4,631 ( 9.32%) were Tenanted; 904 (1.82 %) false in Certificate of Land Ownership Award, Certificate of Ancestral Domain Title, Certificate of Ancestral Land Title, Certificate of Stewardship Agreement or Certificate of Stewardship Contract; 340 (6.84 %) were Leased or Rented; 190 (0.38 %) were under Other Tenure Status and 22 (0.04 %) were under Community-Based Forest Management, Integrated Forest Management Agreement, Forest Land Grazing Management Agreement or Special Land Use Permit.

Out of 34,336 individuals with fully owned status, 9,176 were women and 25,161 were men and for owner-like possession, 3,373 were women and 7,504 were men. (Please refer to Figure 4. Agricultural Population 18 Years Old and Over with Ownership or Secure Rights Over Agricultural Land by Tenure Status and by Sex: Kalinga, 2022).
Figure 5 shows the percentage share of women among owners and rights of Agricultural Land by tenure status. In the figure, we can see that most of the tenure status were dominated by men but in the Other Tenure Status and Owner-Like Possession women have high percentage share in these tenure status with 42.1% and 31.0% respectively.

Concepts and Definitions
Data for this Special Release were taken from the 2022 Census of Agriculture and Fisheries conducted among members of the agricultural households that operated agricultural activities from 01 January to 31 December 2022. Household interviews for the 2022 CAF were conducted from September to November 2023.
Census of Agriculture and Fisheries
A large-scale government undertaking, geared towards the collection and compilation of basic information on the agriculture and fishery sectors in the Philippines.
Agricultural Population
Refers to the members of the household engaged in operating agricultural activities or the household with at least one member engaged in operating agricultural activities during a specific reference period.
Agricultural Populations with ownership or secure rights
Refers to the adult members of agricultural households aged 18 years old and over, who own or are right-bearers of agricultural land used in operating agricultural activities during a specific reference period.
Tenure Status
It is the right under which a parcel is held or operated. A farm may be operated under a single form or tenure or under more than one form, in which case each form of tenure must be reported separately by parcel.
