Domestic Tourism Expenditures
- Domestic tourism comprises the activities of resident visitor within the country of reference either as part of a domestic tourism trip or part of an outbound tourism trip.
- In 2020, the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) reached PhP1.80 billion in domestic tourism expenditures. This declined by -81.3 percent from the 2019 tourism expenditures of PhP9.69 billion.
- The region’s share to the Philippines' total domestic tourism expenditures increased by 0.01 percent from the previous year’s 0.3 percent share.

- Before the pandemic, the growth rate of domestic tourism expenditures in the region declined; and in 2020, it registered a significant setback due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
By Type of Domestic Tourism
- The overnight tourists’ expenditures in 2020 recorded three times higher than same-day visitors’ expenditures.
- Overnight tourists’ expenditures amounted to PhP1.53 billion, decreased by -78.9 percent from PhP7.09 billion in 2019. At the same period, same-day visitors’ expenditures accumulated PhP0.48 billion, a decline of 68.8 percent from PhP1.61 billion the previous year.

- The average daily expenditure of overnight and same-day visitors increased in recent years. In 2020, CAR recorded an average of PhP3,908.70 for overnight tourists and PhP2,855.80 for same-day visitors, increasing by 2.2 and 2.0 percent, respectively.
By Tourism Product
- In 2020, domestic tourism expenditures for all tourism characteristic products decreased.
- Transportation Services continued to have the highest share among all expenditure items with PhP572.20 million. It contributed 33 percent to the total domestic tourism expenditures of the region.
- Moreover, Accommodation for visitors with PhP411.29 million shared 21 percent, Countryspecific Tourism Characteristic Services (Shopping) with PhP243.90 million and Travel Agencies & Other Reservation Services with PhP252.11 million both shared 14 percent to the total domestic tourism expenditures.

- Entertainment & Recreation recorded the steepest decline among tourism products with -82.7 percent, followed by Transportation with -81.6 percent, and Shopping with -81.3 percent. On the other hand, Food and Beverage Serving Services had the least decline with -80.6 percent.
By Province/City
- Baguio City contributed 85 percent to the region’s domestic tourism expenditures or PhP1.54 billion tourism receipts. On the other hand, Abra contributed the least with only a 0.15 percent share or roughly PhP2.74 million.

- The provinces of Apayao, Benguet, and Ifugao contributed 1 percent each, while Kalinga and Mountain province both posted 6 percent shares
Abra
- Abra contributed the least to domestic tourism expenditures in CAR, accounting for only 0.15 percent. The province’s expenditures slipped by -79 percent in 2020, from the PhP13.04 million the previous year.
- In particular, expenditures on Transportation Services reported the highest amount in the province with PhP0.89 million. However, the said item decreased by -78.9 percent from last year's PhP4.21 million.

- Travel Agencies and Other Reservation Services declined by -85.4 percent, while Food and Beverage Serving Services contracted by 64.1 percent.
Apayao
- The province of Apayao posted PhP11.13 million domestic tourism expenditures in 2020. Compared to last year's PhP49.47 million, this was lower by -77.5 percent.

- Transportation Services, Travel Agencies & Other Reservation Services, and Accommodation Services for visitors are the main contributors to the province's domestic tourism expenditures with 30.9, 24.6, and 13.6 percent shares, respectively.
Baguio City
Only Baguio City reached more than a billion pesos in domestic tourism expenditures for 2020. It drastically declined by -80.3 percent from PhP7.81 billion last year due to the pandemic

- In 2020, the province attained the highest domestic tourism expenditures on Transportation Services than other provinces, with more than 85 percent share. Likewise, all expenditures on tourism products recorded in Baguio City contributed the highest to the region.
Benguet
- Benguet province shared 1 percent or PhP26.20 million to the domestic tourism expenditures of Cordillera. The province posted a contraction of 93.9 percent in 2020, the steepest decline among all the provinces as a result of the global health crisis.

- Transportation Services with PhP8.93 million, Accommodation Services for Visitors with PhP4.41 million, and Travel Agencies & Other Reservation Services with PhP3.94 million were the main contributors to Benguet domestic tourism expenditures.
Ifugao
- The total domestic tourism expenditures in Ifugao decreased by 90.7 percent, from PhP251.14 million in 2019 to PhP23.30 million in 2020.

- The expenditures on Accommodation Services for Visitors (PhP5.32 million) registered the largest decline with -91.5 percent from the estimated PhP62.26 million in 2019. Meanwhile, expenditures on Food and Beverage Serving Services (PhP2.76 million) posted a -90.1 percent decrease from last year's PhP27.85 million domestic tourism expenditures.
Kalinga
- Kalinga recorded the slowest rate of decrease in domestic tourism expenditures among the provinces with -71.9 percent. The province recorded PhP103.38 million for 2020, ranked as the second largest contributor to domestic tourism expenditures of the region.
- The province posted PhP33.48 million in tourism expenditures for Transportation Services, followed by Accommodation Services for Visitors with PhP21.72 million. The rest of the tourism products amounted to less than PhP15 million..

Mountain Province
- Mountain Province recorded PhP98.78 million domestic tourism expenditures in 2020. This plunged by -87.2 percent from PhP769.64 million the previous year.
- The province ranked third as the highest contributor to the total Transport Services of the region with PhP98.76 million. The amount represented 5.5 percent of the total. In terms of Accommodation Services for Visitors, the province ranked second with PhP22.02 million comprising 5.4 percent of the region’s total for the tourism product

- The majority of the tourism characteristics products in Mountain Province contracted by approximately 87 percent.
