The Philippine Statistics Authority – Cordillera Administrative Region (PSA-CAR) presented metadata and summary statistics of selected establishment-based data to stakeholders after the launching of the regional data enclave conducted in PSA-CAR Conference Room, Baguio City last July 14, 2023.

The activity was dovetailed to the launching of the PSA Data Enclave Centers (DEC). The data enclave includes firm-level data collected through the Annual Survey of Philippine Business and Industry (ASPBI), Occupational Wage Survey (OWS) and Integrated Survey of Labor and Employment (ISLE). The ASPBI is a designated statistical activity of the PSA that generates essential statistics for economic planning and analysis. Specifically, it gathers information on the levels, structure, performance, and trends of the national and sub-national economy. OWS and ISLE are biennial establishment-based surveys simultaneously conducted by the PSA. OWS is another designated statistical activity that generates average monthly occupational wage rates of selected occupations while ISLE is a modular survey that integrates concerns related to employment, worker’s welfare and protection and labor relations.

PSA-CAR Chief Statistical Specialist Aldrin Federico R. Bahit, Jr. welcomed the participants to the data appreciation lecture. He related this activity with the launching of the data enclave and emphasized the possibilities of exploring more analyses on regional and national economy through the information provided in the data enclave.

Senior Statistical Specialist Betina Joy V. Bermillo presented the ASPBI survey background and summary statistics focusing on the trends of establishments’ performance in the year prior and the first year of the pandemic. Assistant Statistician Lorie Ann Bucagan presented pertinent information of OWS and ISLE and presented statistics critical to periodic adjustments of minimum wages and assessment of the progress of decent work in the country. The event was participated by representatives of Regional Statistics Committee (RSC) member agencies, on-the-job trainees of the Central Luzon State University (CLSU) under BS Statistics program, academe, and PSA-CAR personnel.

We enjoin the public to maximize the facility’s potential in advancing analyses and studies on CAR economy using the firm-level data in the PSA data enclave. The facility is open to data users such as project planners and developers, academe, and researchers in the government and private sectors.
