The Philippine Statistics Authority - Regional Statistical Services Office Cordillera Administrative Region (PSA-RSSO CAR) emerged as the Top Performing PSA Regional Office in the country during the 2018 PSA Field Awards Night held at the Heritage Hotel, Pasay City on June 21, 2019. The economy of Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) grew by 7.3 percent in 2018, slower than the 12.2 percent growth in 2017. Industry accounted for more than half of the region’s economy with 53.0 percent share, followed by Services with 39.7 percent and Agriculture, Hunting, Forestry & Fishing (AHFF) with 7.3 percent. The PSA will conduct the 2018 Family Income and Expenditure Survey (FIES 2018), with a sample of around 180,000 households, deemed sufficient to provide provincial level estimates. About six thousand eight hundred (6,800) Statistical Researchers and Field Personnel will be involved in the conduct of the FIES 2018 nationwide. The 2018 FIES enumeration will be conducted twice. The first visit will be done in July 2018 with the first semester, January to June 2018 as the reference period. The second visit will be conducted in January 2019 with the second semester, July to December 2018 as the reference period. The same set of questions is asked for both visits. The economy of the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) increased from an estimated 137 billion pesos in 2016 to 153 billion pesos in 2017 at constant prices. This corresponds to a growth of the region's economy by 12.1 percent in 2017, the highest among all the regions of the country. This was a leap from the revised 2.3 percent growth in 2016 pushed by the double-digit growth of the Industry Sector, particularly the Manufacturing and Construction sub-industries. Industry accounted for half of the region’s total output at 52.1 percent, followed by Services at 39.6 percent and Agriculture, Hunting, Forestry and Fishing (AHFF) at 8.3 percent. The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) has once again cited the Philippine Statistics Authority – Cordillera Administrative Region as this year’s recipient of Outstanding Partner for Report on Regional Economic Development. The PSA-CAR bagged this award in three consecutive years, that the BSP bestowed another award the Gold Hall of Fame Award for the Report on Regional Economic Developments in the Philippines. The economy of the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) increased from an estimated 134 billion pesos in 2015 to 137 billion pesos in 2016 in constant prices. This corresponds to a growth of the regions economy by 2.1 percent in 2016. This was a slowdown from 4.0 percent increase in 2015 due to the decline in Agriculture, Hunting, Forestry and Fishing (AHFF) and Industry.
