The PSA will conduct the 2018 Family Income and Expenditure Survey (FIES 2018), with a sample of around 180,000 households, deemed sufficient to provide provincial level estimates. About six thousand eight hundred (6,800) Statistical Researchers and Field Personnel will be involved in the conduct of the FIES 2018 nationwide.
 
The 2018 FIES enumeration will be conducted twice. The first visit will be done in July 2018 with the first semester, January to June 2018 as the reference period. The second visit will be conducted in January 2019 with the second semester, July to December 2018 as the reference period. The same set of questions is asked for both visits.

The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) has once again cited the Philippine Statistics Authority – Cordillera Administrative Region as this year’s recipient of Outstanding Partner for Report on Regional Economic Development. The PSA-CAR bagged this award in three consecutive years, that the BSP bestowed another award the Gold Hall of Fame Award for the Report on Regional Economic Developments in the Philippines.

The awards were given during the 2017 Awards Ceremony and Appreciation Lunch for BSP Stakeholders last July 18, 2017 at the Convention Hall, BSP La Union Regional Office, San Fernando City, La Union. This year makes the 14th year that the BSP is honoring partners for their valuable contributions in the fulfillment of BSP’s mandate.

The economy of the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) increased from an estimated 134 billion pesos in 2015 to 137 billion  pesos in 2016 in constant prices. This corresponds to a growth of the regions economy by 2.1 percent in 2016. This was a slowdown from 4.0 percent increase in 2015 due to the decline in Agriculture, Hunting, Forestry and Fishing (AHFF) and Industry.

Industry accounted for half of the regions output at 49.4 percent, follwed by Services at 41.7 percent and AHFF at 8.8 percent. The percent share of Services to the total output of the region increased while the shares of Industry and AHFF decreased.

The Philippine Statistics Authority(PSA) released its latest report on the country's official poverty statistics for the full year of 2015. The PSA report provides the estimates of poverty incidence using income data from the first and second visits of the Family Income and Expenditures Survey(FIES) conducted in July 2015 and January 2016, respectively.
 
Poverty incidence among Cordillerans in 2015 was estimated at 19.7 percent. During the same period in 2012, poverty incidence among Cordillerans was recorded at 22.8 percent.

The economy of Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) further grew from 3.3 percent in 2014 to 3.7 percent in 2015 due to accelerated growth of the region’s Services and Industry.
 
Industry accounted for half of the region’s total output at 50.5 percent, followed by Services at 40.0 percent and Agriculture, Hunting, Forestry and Fishing (AHFF) at 9.5 percent. The percent share of Services to the total output of the region increased while the shares of Industry and AHFF decreased.
 
Industry grew at a faster pace from 2.6 percent in 2014 to 3.2 percent in 2015 due to the growth of Manufacturing and Construction.
